Queen Mary's Dolls' House

This miniature house was built for Queen Mary in 1924. It has running water and electricity, and is filled with thousands of tiny objects made by the leading artists, designers and crafts people of the day.

The State Apartments

These magnificent rooms are used by The Queen to entertain her guests. Don't miss the King's Dining Room with paintings of fish, lobster and birds on the ceiling, St George's Hall where Her Majesty holds splendid banquets, and the Grand Reception Room decorated with real gold.

Henry VIII's armour

Find the Lantern Lobby in the State Apartments to see Henry VIII's enormous suit of armour, made nearly 500 years ago. Then visit St George's Chapel, where 10 kings are buried including Henry VIII and Charles I.

Castle Precincts

These are the outdoor areas within the Castle walls that have lots of evidence of Windsor's role as an important royal fortress long ago. Look for battlements, towers, arrow loops and murder holes!

Changing the Guard

The ceremony usually takes place Monday to Saturday at 11:00 in the Castle’s Lower Ward and lasts approximately 30 minutes. At certain times of the year it takes place every other day. For more information, please check the ceremony timetable.
